With over 1,000 wild fires burning all over California, it's no surprise that we're experiencing gloomy, smoke-filled skies and trouble breathing even though we're not near any of the flames. We've been complaining about the absence of our usual, cloudless blue skies, and bemoaning the fact that our exercising has been relegated indoors to the gym. We're getting off easy compared to the hundreds of firemen who fight the fires in difficult conditions in order to keep our lives safe and sound. I must shout out a big thank you to these heroes. (As a side note: Did you ever notice that all firemen are attractive -- it must be a job requirement --- but then what man isn't good looking in a uniform?)
