Setting Boundaries ~ or the Driveway Saga Continues

So the concrete has been removed, the offending tree root destroyed, the dirt dug out. Destruction has finished and it's time for reconstruction. But before a single paver can be placed, the shape and definition of the driveway must be set. This is where I come in! Actually, I was involved in the very beginning during the planning and design phase, but then had to bow out when the "guy stuff" began. Now I've been asked to join their sandbox to make sure the boundaries are properly set.

Boundary. Now there's a word that has both Biblical and worldly application. A boundary is something that indicates a border or a limit. Boundary setting is a healthy thing to do whether defining a driveway or defining personal behavior.
It's the drawing of the proverbial line in the sand; the separation of this from that, me from the world. Without boundaries water tumbles out of glasses, cars are driven on sidewalks, kids can eat anything they want for dinner and the cable guy can show up at your house whenever he feels like (although it seems like that does happen anyway). Personal boundary setting is a biggie. It not only defines how we act, it defines how we allow others' actions to affect us.

Jesus urged his followers to set BIG boundaries.
Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. (Romans 12:2)
