Bounty of the Land

thankful thinking day 9

I am thankful for farmers' markets. Our city hosts one every Saturday, year round, rain or shine. I'm like a kid in the candy store as I go from booth to booth tasting the samples and filling my basket. The colors are intoxicating, the smells heavenly, the tastes divine.

I respect those who work the land. It's an admirable profession. There's something about getting your hands in the dark, rich soil; something about placing a seed of promise in the ground, tending to it and being rewarded at the end of its journey.

Lord God, thank You for the bounty of the harvest. You are a gracious God.

"And then the land will yield its harvest, and God, our God, will bless us." (Psalm 67:6)
