thankful thinking day 24
Over the weekend, our old-fashioned downtown hosted a holiday open house. It was a welcomed sight in these troubled economic times. The stores were decorated for Christmas and the community came out to stroll Main Street, enjoy tasty treats, and ooh and aah over the splendid displays. The streets were filled with families and couples and teenagers, with strollers and dogs. Neighbors shouted out a "hello" and the balloon man made whimsical contraptions for the kids. The season of universal love is coming. It felt good.
Lord God, thank You for the simple joys of life. For love, for friends, for community. Thank You for Your gift of love in Christ Jesus. His birthday celebration is coming soon and the occasion spreads joy and good cheer. It's a gift I cling to throughout the year.
" For unto us a child is born... and He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." (Isaiah 9:6)
