Reconnecting with high school friends through Facebook has caused me to drag out my year book to match faces with names. In some cases, the "new" or more recent faces of the old have changed so much from the "old" or long ago faces of the young. It's amazing to me what time, gravity and life has done to once vigorous and tight visages, bright eyes and hopeful expectations.
As I look back at the gallery of faces, I realize how disconnected I was with most of my high school alumni. Oh sure, I did stuff with people, but I didn't really know them. But then, did I really even know myself? It's a lifelong journey, this knowing stuff.
