Different Kind of Water

Road Trip ~ Desert Lesson continued

What do these examples of humans living in the desert have in common?

Water. Without it, life of any kind would not be possible in such an inhospitable environment. Desert-specific plants and animals live in natural harmony with this ecosystem. People are the ones who need artificial means to survive. We need copious amounts of water ~ not just for personal biological survival but to support the communities we create, communities that are not necessarily compatible with the environment.

I also need water of a different kind. Two molecules of hydrogen + one of oxygen does not equal the living water that I need to not only thrive but survive in this world of ours. That only comes from God.

Jesus answered her, "If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked Him and He would have given you living water." "Sir," the woman said, "you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water?" (Jesus replied), "Whoever believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within (her)." - John 4:10-11, Rev 7:17

Living water. Water that quenches my spiritual thirst. Water that nourishes my soul. Water that washes me with grace and forgiveness. Water that fills me with truth. Water that bathes me in love. Water that equips me for living.
