A flock of sparrows has descended onto our neighborhood. I thought their mating season was over but they have been furiously flying from yard to yard seeking nest-building materials. Last night and this morning, a male and female have graced our small backyard with their delightful songs. I was hoping that they intended to build a nest but they came to steal instead ~ bits of our flowers, leaves and plants. We have a hummingbird that faithfully returns to our yard every summer to drink of the nectar of our artemisias and I swear he did a double take when he swooped into our yard only to discover interlopers. The sparrows were not interested in the hummer's flowers but never-the-less the hummer took it upon himself to check things out. It was a rather humorous exchange but they parted amicably.

Note from the owners of the garden: Hey little guys, you are all welcome to our sanctuary.
