Lessons from the Kitchen continued
We did it. We pulled the trigger. The design work is done. The cabinets are ordered. The counter top, flooring, back splash and even the appliances have been chosen. It's exhilarating and agonizing at the same time. And it's a lot of money. I still have to decide on lighting and door handles but right now, those decisions would drain my brain.
So what have I learned so far? It took a whole lot longer to make decisions than I anticipated. Check. My dream plan and my reality design are more or less aligned but with compromises on my part. Check. It costs more than I originally estimated but we remained good stewards of our funds. Check. It's going to take longer to get started and complete the actual construction than I thought it would. Check.
I know enough about kitchens now to help others design theirs. Surprise. I got some features I didn't even know I would want. Surprise. I'm more excited about what we are creating than I am freaked out about the money we are spending. Surprise. I met a wonderful employee at the store who graciously, patiently and expertly helped us out. Surprise. She's already invited to our celebration margarita party!
