Lessons from the Garden continued
I affectionately call this our vegetable coffin. We were determined to make our front yard not just beautiful but functional. Growing our vegetables fits in perfectly with our determination to eat healthy, organic, locally grown, in-season food as much as possible.
Here it is in full production.
So now I can officially say that I'm a farmer. It's amazing how much we can grow in this little plot along with an extra pot or two. We are harvesting tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, peppers, onions and herbs such as basil, rosemary and parsley. There is nothing, nothing like eating vegetables freshly picked from our garden. It's heaven.
I even found a surprise!
I had stuck a sprouting garlic clove in the dirt and forgot all about it. As it grew I thought it was one of my onions. So imagine my surprise today when I pulled it from the ground! Tonight we are feasting on roasted vegetable with homegrown garlic. Yum!
