Stop in the Name of Love

No, your eyes are not deceiving you.  That is, indeed, a stop light in the middle of nowhere.  Just fields.  No intersections.  No cow crossings.  The reason for the light makes perfect sense, however, once you understand its use.  Road work has narrowed driving down to one lane.  So to keep traffic flowing without guessing whose turn it is or how many more cars are coming your way, this nifty mobile traffic light keeps everything safe and under control.  Of course, the urge is always to blow off that traffic light since it is, mind you, in the middle of nowhere without a policeman in sight.

Not only is there a stop light, there is a stop sign telling you exactly where to stop.  The highway people have this thing perfectly under control ~ that is, of course, if I am willing to comply, because again, there is no one around to enforce it.  And rebellious me would love nothing more than to blow through that inane stop light in the middle of nowhere.  And there lies the rub.

As a card carrying member of society, I have read the rules, agreed to them and signed on the dotted line.  I'm a rebel at heart and don't always like the rules but I know they keep civil order.  So I agree to go along because it's typically for my benefit as well as the benefit of my chosen community.

Here's the further rub.  If I willingly oblige to stop at a traffic light in the middle of nowhere because it's part of man's rule book, why don't I willing oblige to follow my Creator's handbook, which was also written for my benefit and the benefit of my surrounding community?  After all, it is He who created me.  He knows what is best for me.  He loves me and I purport to love Him back.  So if I am willing to stop for a traffic light in order not to get slapped with a fine, wouldn't I be even more willing to stop in the name of love and realign myself with His traffic signs?
