Preparing to Celebrate

Lessons from the Kitchen

My kitchen is so close to being done.  I even cooked an all-American pot roast with potatoes for my men in the new oven.  Under cabinet lights still need to be chosen and mounted (the electricity is already wired), and a few other minor details need attending to, but for the most part, I now have a fully functioning kitchen.  Honestly, it feels a bit weird.  I mean I have been cooking like a nomad for so long it began to feel normal.  But it's wonderful to see the fruits of our design and labor.  I wonder if this is how God felt at the end of His week when He was creating the universe?  (Just joking.)

I plan on writing a what-did-I-learn post complete with before and after photos, but right now, my heart and mind are distracted by Jesus.  He's coming soon and I want to be fully present to experience and enjoy His birthday celebration.  Now if I can just remember where I put the birthday candles in my new kitchen.

"For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ."  (2 Corin.  4:6)
