Survivor
My mom never ceases to amaze me. She went into the hospital last week with congestive heart failure, beginning pneumonia, some sort of bacterial infection in her blood and her perennial lymphoma. She was weak and disoriented. Mom was released Monday and even as of yesterday morning I was still concerned for her health and welfare.
I went back last night to have dinner with her and she was like a different person. She ate a fairly hearty dinner after a week of boycotting food, and not only wanted to play cards but did a fine job winning several hands. Her sense of humor had returned and she even stole popcorn from my bowl after she had finished eating hers.
I have learned over the years not to count Mom out even when she appears to be going down for the count. Her father was a tenacious, hardworking man and he passed those virtues onto Mom. As an military wife, she raised three kids all over the world, much of the time on her own as Dad was out on maneuvers. She has battled heart and cancer issues for more than ten years but when she gets the spring back in her step, as she does over and over, one would hardly guess her 94 years.
My hat is off to you, Mom. Long may your banner wave.

She's amazing and looks great as ever! Like Mother, like daughter!
I know I keep telling you this but yeah, she rocks. She told me the funniest stories last weekend, especially the one about where your brother moved her and sold her house in the span of like a week. While I'm sure it wasnt funny at the time it all happened, she remembered every tiny detail of that time in her life and could laugh about it now. She's a hoot.
