Search Engines Have a Field Day with Name of this Book

Tonight my young women's book club meets to discuss this month's pick, The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis. It's a heady book, not an easy read, particularly since it takes a 180 degree stance from the "typical" Christian viewpoint. It took me awhile to get into Satan's perspective of how to create lives of anguish, despair and hopelessness. I'll keep you posted on their reaction to the book.

(Update) They're gone but the effect of the book lingers on. True, not everyone finished the book and one confessed to not reading it at all. But first we did a study on Satan from a biblical perspective and then dived into the book. Bottom line ~ Satan hates us as much as God loves us. Satan wants to destroy us as much as God wants to redeem us. It's a spiritual war for mankind which God will win, but each individual battle (that's you and me) will be won or loss based on our free will choice. We can live victorious in Christ or in despair and defeat in Satan.

BTW, Satan doesn't wear red, have a pointy tail and carry a spear. It would make him much too easy a target to avoid. He much more subtle and sinister ~ and very, very real.

(Editor's note: I suspect I will lose some faithful readers after this post. It's hard enough for some to believe in Jesus Christ but Satan is just too much for others to swallow. Satan likes it that way; it gives him more room to maneuver.)
