Coat Scheme

I posted earlier that the Groovies were celebrating Ted's big 50th birthday today. You can imagine that we Groovies don't do "ordinary" when it comes to celebrations, and certainly not a big 50. So we came up with the coat scheme.

Ted loves coats. She's a bona fide coat-aholic. I must admit she has some really cool coats. But come on, we couldn't actually give her a coat that she would wear. That wouldn't be fun. So the idea was tossed out (by one of our Groovy husbands) that we should go to Goodwill or Salvation Army and buy some really tacky coats. Even better, we should put used stuff in the pockets that could have belonged to the previous owners. Oh yeah, we took the idea and ran with it.

But, of course, we couldn't be that mean to her. After all, we love our Groovy friend and it is a BIG birthday. So inside the pockets, along with all the tacky stuff, we each included a $20 bill. That adds up to a nice piece of change that she could go out and spend on a brand new coat that she would really wear. We tied it all together with a poem written by Groovy Kelley that explained the beauty of our coat scheme.

Did we pull it off? Check out the photos and you be the judge. Let's just say that the laughter increased with the opening of each tacky coat and the amazing things that people stuffed in the pockets.

I think Ted actually enjoyed her big 50 celebration! I know we did :-)

Great job of sharing our day! Not sure if we had more fun planning it or Ted had experiencing it, but it was a WIN WIN celebration for sure!!
