Why do the Russians whine every time they lose a gold medal in figure skating?
Why do teenagers throw themselves in front of a train to end their lives at such a tender age?
Why are dogs put on par with, or even treated better than human members of the family?
Why do celebrities vomit their lives all over us?
Why do birds migrate a gazillion miles and salmon swim up waterfalls to mate?
Why does a newborn die but an evil man live to old age?
Why will the suffering in Haiti fall off the radar screen just as Thailand did after their tsunami?
Why are roses bred for visual perfection at the expense of their beautiful smell?
Why is cancer so stubborn?
When I was young these questions would have perplexed me. Now that I believe the answer is clear.
In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. (John 16:33)

sometimes the question "why" isn't productive. A richer question is "How shall I respond?"
