I design and make jewelry. It's kind of funny that I do this because I'm not a very girly girl nor do I wear a lot of jewelry myself. I think I inherited my attraction to jewelry, however, from my mom. She loves jewelry, expensive or inexpensive. She goes to the jewelry shows with me and while I'm busy looking at beads and other components to design with, she wandering the aisles looking at all the cases full of goodies she can buy and wear right then and there.
It's great fun but the only jewelry that I personally take seriously is my wedding ring. It's not just a fashion statement but a symbol of a love covenant that I have made with my husband. It reminds me daily that we chose each other for better or worse, in sickness and in health, til death do us part.
As much as I love my husband, I must confess that I am a bride to an eternal groom for whom death has no sting. Indeed, this groom has conquered death and awaits for me on the other side.
I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for He has clothed me with the garments of salvation, He has covered me with the robe of righteousness...as a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. ~ Isaiah 61:10
You shall also be a crown of glory...in the hand of of your God...For the Lord delights in you...and as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, so shall your God rejoice over you. ~ Isaiah 62:3-5
Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of (Christ). ~ Rev 19:9
Thank You, Lord God, for delighting in me. Thank You for Good Friday and Easter Sunday ~ for giving the ultimate bridal gift of death so that I may live.
