Different Kind of Safety

Road Trip - Desert Lessons continued

Two signs. Both encountered in the natural poppy preserve. Both serving as safety warnings, just a few feet from each other.

The Do Not Enter sign was the first one we saw. "Sure," I thought, "protect this field from us big foot humans." I missed the part about public safety.

It was a singular word on the second sign that stopped me cold ~ the word "respect."

Respect a creature that is important to the local community. Respect that creature's desire for undisturbed safety. Respect the danger of an ill-suited encounter.

It caused me to reflect on my place within the bigger scheme of things. It also caused me to reflect on the trust that in my not knowing, I am protected by a greater knowledge. I can't see beyond my limited scope but God can. He has my back. He has lovingly prepared my path. I just need to follow the signs and respect His provision for me.
