Gym Etiquette

Today's lesson is on the gym. What is it about the gym that makes people forget their manners? People, I know we are all running around in spandex or silly looking shorts, but that shouldn't short circuit the brain. Maybe our headbands are too tight. So please, please think of others when using your local gym:
  1. If you sweat, I don't want to know about it or touch it when I use the equipment. Please wipe up after yourself.
  2. If you are a heavy lifter, please take your weights off the equipment when you are done. Big guys like you aren't always around to help me offload your leftover weights.
  3. Dumbbells like to be re-racked. They feel safer there and are accessible to the next person without a treasure hunt.
  4. Talk if you must to your neighbor, but could you keep the decibels down, especially if we are stuck next to each other for the next 30 minutes on the stationary bike or treadmill?
  5. Speaking of talking, if you are like totally engaged in a conversation to the point where you are just sitting on, not using the equipment, could you step aside and let someone use it? It will be much appreciated and we can get home faster to the lattes that await us.
  6. Perfume and other smelly stuff is best after your after-gym shower.
(A side note: A big thank you to all you good people who bring great magazines and leave them behind for the rest of us to read. It makes our treadmill time go way faster.)

So the question I am left with after two days of etiquette postings, am I cranky? Your feedback will be appreciated. Really.

You're not cranky... just expressing what everyone else is thinking but is too chicken to say.

I actually chuckle the way you present things and find it hard to take offense to it.
