If you guessed that my day trip took me to see the glorious California redwoods, you would be close but instead it was the majestic giant sequoias. My brother had always wanted to see both, so his last visit we took him to Muir Woods at the coast to see the redwoods. This trip, we headed to Calaveras Big Trees State Park off highway 4 in the Sierra Nevada Mountains to see the sequoias. Neither words nor photos adequately share these amazing trees, but let me try...
What made our walk through this amazing forest even more enjoyable were the abundance of delicate wild flowers and plants that served as a counterpoint to the massive trees around them.
