As many times as we verbalize the truth that life events can be unexpected, we are often taken off guard by unexpected life events.
Yesterday I awoke feeling generally crummy. Sore throat. Mild cough. Ear ache. Slightly upset tummy. Nothing big deal but definitely unexpected as I have been the picture of health for over a year. No cold or bout of flu this past winter. Not that any of us need to be sick but I really don't need this right now. I have stuff to do on my busy calendar and I am a lousy patient. But here I am, dealing with unexpected illness, however mild.
So I am going to choose to frame this life event differently. I am going to look at not feeling good as an opportunity to go through my day a little slower, and be thankful for the time just to enjoy things that often get overlooked in my busy schedule. (As I write, I am looking at a layer of dust on the glass shelf above my desk but that's not going to get addressed today.)
Life offers lessons. Today is a good one to remember.
