Graceful Aging or Fighting the Inevitable

My esthetician (did I even come close to spelling that right?) made an interesting observation.  She said that her clients in their 50's and older, request organic facial products to pamper their skin.  Her 40 year olds, however, say to heck with organic, give me the heavy duty chemical stuff to get rid of wrinkles.

So my questions are ~ are women in their 50's+ finally comfortable in their own skin and just want to be the best possible "me" they can be while women in their 40's are still desperately trying to hold onto their youth?  Or are the more mature women just not "with it" when it comes to current cosmetic "technology" while the younger "get it?"

I'm voting for the former.  It gives me hope that the obsession with anti-aging leads to graceful acceptance of the inevitable ~ which is a mature beauty that is revered for a life well lived.  That's how the French women do it  and look at how beautiful their "grown-up" women are.

Casey,
Mom looks fabulous! Should we all look that great at 94!
Ironically, I had a facial this weekend... only the 2nd in my life and I'll be 65 next month. It was wonderful being pampered but it was even more wonderful being told that I had beautiful skin and when it came time for her to handle my blemishes, she was done in a flash! A real ego booster for sure. And an added note: I told her I just used Oil of Olay to moisturize and she said that was great & that you don't need a lot of expensive products to have beautiful skin.
