My Primary Obligation

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind; and, Love your neighbor as yourself. ~ Luke 10:27

I've been taught that the primary obligation of all Christians is to "become fishers of men;" to speak directly of the message of salvation to mankind.  After all, it is the charge that Christ gave His initial twelve disciples.  But when asked what is the greatest commandment of all, Christ replied that we are first to love God and then love our neighbor.  Loving others as Christ loves them is my primary obligation.  Of course, it goes without saying, that if I love others as Christ does, then I will want them to accept the saving grace and mercy He offers ~ but it's not my obligation to convert them to Christ followers.  It's my obligation to share the Good News of His salvation by allowing the love of Christ to flow through me.  He does the work of salvation.
