Progress Report
Lessons from the Kitchen
This is where progress on the kitchen has been stalled for two weeks. That's right. Nada. Nothing. As in going nowhere. I've learned that one of the reason kitchen remodels take so long is the hurry-up-and-wait-factor. Hurry and make my decisions, then wait for the manufacturers/installers to do their part to move the process along.
I am happy to report, however, that the floor is next. My husband is picking up the tiles today and is determined to have them in place by the end of the weekend. Well, done as in the tiles will be cut and laid. He doesn't want anyone to walk on them until the thinset has firmly hardened and the grout installed. So I expect to be out of my kitchen for a couple of days. Yikes! I gotta keep my husband happy because he's my head installer of this kitchen project, and if he says a couple of days, so be it.
In the meantime, there is much more to do. You can see that the beautiful but unfortunate yellow is still on the walls and I have not yet chosen it's replacement. The back splash decision is waiting for the counter top but I do know it will be glass tiles. Ceiling, under-cabinet and in-cabinet lighting has been chosen but the price needs to be justified. The appliances are in the garage ready to report for duty. And the glass inserts for the cabinet doors have finally arrived. We even got the phone call that our counter tops are in production. Installation is expected on the last Monday of the month.
See what I mean? Hurry up and wait. I've decided to stop asking the Lord for the gift of patience. I can't be patient without circumstance that cause me to have patience. It's highly overrated.

Under cabinet lighting is very expensive... I still have the wires hanging down waiting on us to invest in the lights... some day
You got that right, Anonymous! The price is outrageous, especially since we are trying to be eco-conscious and buy LED. I've been thinking of letting my wires hand for awhile, too.
Looks so good - so sleek and modern! Can't wait to see it all done - I love glass tile for the back splash!
