Road Trip ~ Beach'n It
Sometimes a quick change of scenery is all I need to refresh my soul. The following is a photo journey of my one-day trip to the coast with hubby and friend. It has been in the 90's all week so we were looking forward to soaking in the warm sand and hearing the crashing waves.
The trip began with brilliant sunshine and spectacular beach views.
Beach towns are always good for viewing interesting characters doing interesting things like these two dudes repairing the headlights and front grill on an old beat-up BMW. The best part was the dog sitting in the passenger's seat watching the view.
Santa Cruz is all about the beach and having a good time. These are shots of the boardwalk and surrounding area, including one of the, if not the, last wooden roller coaster in the country. To be fair, this town does have a more serious side to it (I think).
Delirious with sunshine, we staked our claim in the sand and settled in for some serious sunbathing. Within half an hour of beach'n it, the off-shore fog ran aground at record speed.
So we did what any self-respecting beach-goer would do in this situation ~ headed for the local coffee shop, although this one ended up being a bit down the road in Capitola. Who knew we would be treated to an old dude playing piano? His music, a cup of hot beverage and a terrific view from the balcony topped off our day.
