When your heart speaks, take good notes. ~ Susan Campbell
The bigger question is can I trust my heart; what is its condition? Will my thoughts, emotions and actions spring from a well of sweet or poisoned water?
The Lord saw how great man's wickedness on the earth had become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time. (Genesis 6:5) Then the Lord said to Moses, "Pharaoh's is unyielding; he refuses to let the people go. (Exodus 7:14) if I have concealed my sin as men do, by hiding my guilt in my heartheart (Job 31:33) Not a word from their mouth can be trusted; their heart is filled with destruction. Their throat is an open grave; with their tongue they speak deceit. (Psalm 5:9) He boasts of the cravings of his heart; he blesses the greedy and reviles the Lord. (Psalm 10:3)
My words come from an upright heart; my lips sincerely speak what I know. (Job 33:3) But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation. (Psalm 13:5) He whose walk is blameless and who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from his heart. (Psalm 15:2) Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure, (Psalm 16:9) A cheerful heart is good medicine, (Proverbs 17:22)
When my heart speaks, I strive not be quick to agree or react, but be slow and intentional to determine if my heart is crying out to be cleansed or is rejoicing in gladness.
