"The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands. And He is not served by human hands, as if He needed anything, because He Himself gives all men life and breath and everything else. From one man He made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and He determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek Him and perhaps reach out for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us. 'For in Him we live and move and have our being.' As some of your own poets have said, 'We are His offspring.' (Acts 17:24-28)
New Year's Day the first of 365 opportunities to be renewed and refreshed; to grow in wisdom and spiritual maturity. It's a perfect day to remind myself of who God is and why I should orient my daily compass to Him. I have chosen to believe in Him; although He does not need my validation to truly exist. I have chosen to follow Him; although He chose me first by forming my very being. I have chosen to love Him; although I am incapable of His unconditional love and often fall short.
My life is richer because of these choices. The world may not grasp why I do not measure my wealth in coins or land or things. It may not understand the peace I feel in the place that I am in. But I do not live for the world's approval. The standard of my life is between me and my God, and I am overjoyed to be considered His offspring.
As I enter the new year, I eagerly anticipate opening His gift of 365 days, yet only He knows the number of my days. I will live each one fully, trying to honor Him and continue to grow into the woman He designed me to be.
And I wish you a Happy New Year! May you be blessed by your 365 days ahead.
