The object of a New Year is not that we should have a new year. It is that we should have a new soul. ~ G.E. Chesterton
I like this quote. It tweaks the idea of a new year as being more than just 365 days to continue do what we've been doing. It's an invitation to rethink not just what I do but why. It's an invitation to look at the very core of what motivates me. It's an invitation to be a better me ~ not that the current me is bad or flawed or mediocre ~ but that time, and therefore my days, are not static. I can remain the same or I can grow My best life, living to my giftings and intended purpose, is a journey of continual newness building on, and sometimes even transforming, the old.
Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind... Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, (she) is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. (Romans 12:2, 2 Corinth 5:17)
