Joy Even When the Phone Call Comes

Road Trip ~ Utah or Bust

I don't like feeling helpless.  I especially don't like feeling helpless when it involves a family member.  As much as my husband and I like our road trips, in the back of our minds we are waiting for the shoe to drop regarding my mom's health and well-being.  Although she's in a safe, loving environment, she gets a bit anxious when we go out of town.  Sure enough, the phone call came last night.

It's a bit nerve racking orchestrating her care via a mobile phone.  One ambulance to the ER and many tests later, she was admitted for a trace of pneumonia in her lungs so they are keeping her for a couple of days.

Joy whatever the circumstances.  Joy.  Hmm.  Joy that mobile phones allow me to be in immediate contact with her.  Joy that she is under good medical care and has health insurance that covers her expenses.  Joy that my son was able to meet her at the ER and comfort her.  Joy that I can pray to God, our comforter and healer, and that He is in control of the circumstances whatever the outcome.
