Road Trip ~ Utah or Bust
Contrary to popular opinion, there really is some beautiful, rugged, stark scenery between here and there on hgwy 80 when you cross Nevada and enter Utah. The key is to travel in the winter when pristine snow covers the mountain peaks. The sparkling white enhances the endless brown expanses.
Having said that, today's photo journey shares some of the sites that add to the quirky and unusual nature of driving on the highways and byways of the good 'ole USA.
The goal of this trip is to ski some of the terrific resorts in Utah's Wasatch Mountains. We decided to also explore some of the smaller mountains, so we left Nevada and drove straight to Springville just south of Provo and checked into the Best Western. Our $69/night room is the size of my living room and comes complete with a jacuzzi tub. It's going to be much appreciated when we get off the mountain.
Check out the contents of the bedside drawer ~ a 3" phone book that someone literally tore in half, a Bible and a Krishna Bhagavad-Gita. I definitely think my room qualifies to be on the quirky and unusual side of the photo journey.
Today we head to Sundance Ski Resort. Do you think Robert Redford will be greeting us at the gate?

I personally would have hijacked the Jelly Belly truck and continued the road trip in that. Yummmmm!
