New Moon on the Horizon

Barn's burned down, now I can see the moon. ~ Masahide

The Groovies got together this week.  We try to meet regularly once a month, and with our busy lives sometimes it's not an easy task; but it's always so rewarding and enriching when we do.  We laugh, we cry, we lift up, we pray, we hold each other accountable, and we share the good and bad as we dig deeper into our friendships.

"Change" was our big topic this time ~ the often unsettling aspect of change.  Whether it's welcomed or not, change is often viewed as negative because change can upset our equilibrium until we develop a new way of "being."   Ironically, we're sort of like sharks ~ we have to keep swimming or we die.  I love the quote from Masahide because it speaks to the possibilities that change can reveal once the "known" has been swept away and we willingly swim towards it.  That doesn't mean that we forget what was before, or that we don't mourn what was lost, or that we don't build on what has gone before ~ but it does speak to the sometimes exhilarating and even liberating new view before us that invites us to step in and participate.

... and then there was the Groovy who was awakened during the night, while vacationing in Hawaii, and saw the huge harvest moon reflected in the wall mirror. What an awesome moment...
