Lessons from the Garden ~ Back Yard Remodel
This was the view from my windows while the men were installing our new roof. We lived in this shroud for an entire day. The plastic had been draped for our (house and yard) protection, so it comforting while at the same time eerie and a bit disconcerting. My thoughts bounced back and forth between the shroud being a metaphor for living under a cloud and being clueless, and for living under the loving and secure protection of God's cloak. I guess it's all perspective.
Sometimes when looking out the window I felt the darkness of the shroud which obscured much of the sunlight that day. I felt out of touch with reality in a world of my own. That's kind of a scary place to be, especially if one's "world" isn't healthy. Fortunately, mine is, but I'm just going with the metaphor here.
Sometimes when looking out the window, I felt safe and secure, protected by whatever bits of roofing matter that would periodically come flying through the air. It reminded me of God's desire to take us under His wing where we would be loved and cared for in a way unlike anything we could receive from anyone but Him.
how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, (Matt 23:37)
