Christmas. Birthday. New Year.

Today is my birthday.  My week's celebration begins with Christmas and ends with New Year's.  It's like  the coveted hat trick in hockey.

I used to hate that my birthday got lost in the midst of these two big holidays but now I like being sandwiched between them both.  It's an endless party, not in the literal sense, but in my heart.  It's a time of so many beginnings and endings, thoughtful reflection and hopeful expectation.  I actually feel unburdened and open to the possibilities of beginning the new calendar year with a new birth year.

I've never had to work or go to school during this celebratory week.  That's probably another reason it feels so grand.  And I've made a point not to rush into the first few days of the new year.   I just want to breathe in the freshness, slow time down just a bit and absorb being in the moment before the moments become a blurr.

Time is precious.  It's becoming even more so.
