" When I was 17, I read a quote that went something like, 'If you live each day as if it was your last, someday you'll most certainly be right.' Since then ... I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself, 'If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?' And whenever the answer had been 'no' for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something. Your time is limited ...Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition....Put a dent in the universe." (from Steve Jobs' June 12, 2005, Stanford Commencement Address, last sentence from separate interview)
I believe that we are all intended to put a dent in the universe, but to take Steve's quote a bit further, I believe we are not on this earth merely for our own pleasure, accomplishments and self-satisfaction. The world may tell us otherwise, but we all matter; we all have a place and a purpose. The only way to impact the world in a self-less way is by knowing who you are, whose you are, how you are wired and for what purpose ~ and then take action! The cost of not doing so are great not only to you but to your place in the world. The rewards of doing so are immeasurable and often unexpected.
Imagine the dent that you have been created to make!
Happy New Year!
