It has been a mere four days since Mom's passing so I guess I shouldn't be surprised that it's still hard to breathe when I realize she is gone ~ gone at least from terra firma.
We humans get so puffed up with our self-importance, and then we die and "amazingly," life (the world) goes on without us. If we're lucky, or notorious, a few people may remember us, miss us. But if we played our cards right, we will have left a mark that will be felt for generations despite our absence.
My parents were two incredible human beings who never felt that they were special or extra-ordinary, yet they touched many. Oh, their names might not be known nor their faces remembered by many, but they touched hearts and minds, and those they touched carry their legacies into the future.
People say our loved ones are with us even after they have passed. One can feel their presence. Certainly, we carry a genetic inheritance, but it goes beyond that. Love lives because God is love, and He is past, present and future ~ eternal.
