Life, Death and Purpose In-Between

Two quotes in yesterday's paper struck a chord with me ~

"Whatever you do, do something that is of some service to somebody else, because if you do, you'll know that it mattered that you were born."  ~ as spoken by Ann Curry's dad when she asked his advice on a career path

"It was about the inevitability and unavoidability of death ~ and the importance of putting yourself out there, at risk, for humanity.  Because what else, really, is there?" ~ as spoken by Kjerstin Erickson referencing Steve Job's 2007 Stanford commencement address

Two speakers sharing one theme that resonates with everyone at one time or another in his/her lifetime.  "Of what purpose is my life?  Did it really matter that I sojourned on this earth?"  We all share the life spark of birth and the darkening of death, but what we do with the in-between time makes all the difference in the world, however long or short our reach may be.
